Here’s a list repairs on my 2015 Subaru Forester XT with 60,000+km on the clock. These are grouped based on when I had them repaired/replaced and are considered normal repairs given the car’s age and milage.

When the car had a rattling sound in idle and a clicking sound when turning I had these replaced.

  • Upper and Lower busing
  • Stab-link bushings
  • Front strut top mounts both side
  • Left/Right engine supports
  • CVT mount

When the car had a moaning sound on the hi way these had to be replaced…

  • Left/Right rear wheel hubs
  • Left/Right front wheel hubs (preventive replacement)

When the AC suddenly stopped working… In Baguio

  • AC compressor
  • Expension valve
  • Evaporator

When the car didn’t want to start… On my wedding anniversary.

  • Brake lamp switch (cheapest repeair yet)

When the car smelled like burnt coolant and was chugging coolant.

  • Radiator
  • Thermostat (preventive)
  • Upper/lower hosea
  • Water pump and seals
  • Coolant flush

That’s the running list, which doesn’t include consumables which i replaced over time like:

  • Batteriea
  • Tires
  • Engine oil
  • Transmission oil
  • Engine coolant
  • Brake pads
  • Brake rotors
  • Cabin, air, and oil filters
  • Wind shield wipers
  • Headlamp bulbs

The ownership experience was ok all things considered. I was expecting it last atleast 80,000 km before encountering some of the repairs but considering the state of the roads we drive on in the country it’s par for the course.
