I started with an $8/mo plan when I started using Linode, which ballooned to $12/month. Then the Philippines imposed a 12% (I think) on digital goods & services which included my web host… Which I was able to circumvent, thankfully.
This prompted me to discontinues other subscriptions my house-hold uses, from Netflix to post-paid mobile plans… Now I’m back sailing the high sea’s on a prepaid plan like it’s 2001 again. I also downgraded where I can, like my web host, now I’m on $5/month plan along with a free Mailgun account as for a SMTP relay. They still offer a free plan with a 100/day email limit.
I guess being cheap will be back in vogue soon, seeing as being frugal is simply not enough anymore..
